Forgotten Fretmasters #21 - Mary Ford
Before Les Paul became a legend, he had to become a successful recording artist first, and a huge part of that success had to do with the vocals and guitar playing of his musical partner……….. But who was this powerhouse whose distinctive, silky vocals and smooth, technical guitar playing drove the sound of those early ‘50s singles? ………. Today, we’re going to find out as we look at the life and career of one of the most successful recording artists of the early 1950’s, the one, the only… Mary Ford.

Did JOHN LENNON'S GHOST visit The Beatles in 1995?
Просмотров 18 тыс.7 месяцев назад
This is one of the spookiest ghost stories in rock, and it involves one of the most iconic musicians in the history of recorded music. Did John return to The Beatles while they worked on his songs for the Anthology in 1995? Here's the story; you be the judge!

Let me know when you finally discover Status Quo.
At 77, Bebop Deluxe is one of 2 groups I still listen to. Steely Dan is the other group.
I wouldn't visit that .. POS. "Rock & Joke Hall of Shame", Even if it were cross my street, And I could get in for free.
Loved letting my wife who is 20yrs younger than me learn the story behind the song. Thanks for doing what you do. Keep up the good work.
It's interesting because when Gibson released the Appetite for Destruction Les Paul it didn't have Seymour Duncans. What was Gibson thinking? It sure makes that company look like boneheads.
Moonage Daydream
As a shred player myself I was very happy to see someone like SLASH come onto the scene!! I like that he not only brought back the les paul but also the slower more Blues Influenced playing.
Top 10
Please tell me this is a joke... John Lennon coming back as a white peacock... Jeez.. Anyone who believes that also probably believe that Paul died in 66 and Elvis and Michael Jackson are still alive... Ffs
Les Dudek...another great.
I swear this guy just said the exact same thing another youtube video
Michael, Whitey, Freddy, George M and Prince they all died around their 50s.
The Les Paul replica Slash originally played and recorded with, was built by my brother, the late Peter Max Baranet. Slash has said in interviews that he owns 2 Max guitars that he now keeps stored in a vault. He only uses them for recording.
It certainly was a great year. Some great Prog albums along with the best classic. Yeah this is the best year. Well done
YT, just removes my comments. Good luck commenters🤞
Nice analysis from a guitarist's point of view! (Thanks for the mention of Mott)
I grew up on Ziggy and Aladdin Sane, so Ronson and Bolder were 'the sound' for me. When I want to blast some Bowie, I put on 'Watch That Man' on 11! Linda Lewis on backing vocals was always a bonus!
Jim Dickinson had to have Alex removed from the studio when mixing their second album. “It was him or me.” One of them had to go!
The Boxtops was owned by a Memphis DJ, Roy McNamara (?) . All records were studio musicians. Concerts and tours were never the same personnel. They were who Roy picked for the band at that time. I had two friends who played in a version of The Box Tops. They said their jobs depended on who Roy wanted in that spot at the time. It was Alex and whoever Roy wanted.
So glad you are highlighting Bill
He is a legend. He had the soul that cannot be matched. ❤❤

Thanks for this beautiful tribute to such a wonderful woman, guitarist, and singer. In case you haven't yet discovered an absolutely amazing young married couple named Victor and Melissa, please look them up on RUclips. He's French and she's a New Zealander/Filipino, emulating Bette Paige in look. They do 37 note-for-note recreations of all of Les and Mary's greatest hits, and they are both funny and fabulous! 👍
Yoko is just a greedy, selfish, gold digging POS. Everybody knows that the problems with John seeing Julian was her control over John. If he just hadn't met her.
Sometimes one just cannot get away from the alchol. They knew he had a problem when he joined the band he just couldnt get away from it, the alchol
Incorrect, 'Without You' was # 1 in the UK for 4 weeks!
Love the Frampton T!
Its only greeny in the hands and fingers of Green and Moore in anyone else's hands just a les paul!!
I find hilarious that pretty much all the most famous Les Paul’s are so vastly different to the standard Gibson Les Paul we all know and hate. Even my own Les Paul is geared more like Zakk Wylde’s (though doesn’t have the paint job, instead it’s Mat Black), it’s also not a Gibson either.
Mary clearly loves the song. She is intelligent.
This gig was a garage band documentary. Wild!
I only listen to their albums from Hysteria to the beginning. When Steve Clark died so did the band.
I dont believe one words. he was a pathological liar. I even doubt he ever played guitar.
Especially after the details of the 9.9.69 meeting have been made known, it amazes me that Sir Ego blames Lennon for the demise of the band. His haughty contempt for his bandmates, his absolute inflexibility, and his inexcusable treatment of his partners as session players while denigrating their talent, clearly led the other three to want out. He should have gained some insight into his own selfish behavior from the experience of mistreating others. Did he? I don't see it. And his sneering dismissal of Harrison's songwriting abilities: it's All Things Must Pass that is regarded as the finest of all the individual Beatles members' albums. It's Here Comes the Sun that is the group's most streamed song. He either had a tin ear or his huge ego was threatened by Harrison's talent. I don't think of McCartney as a genius. He's an ex-Beatle, which gives him eternal fame, and half of a former great songwriting team. I think he's become a mediocre pop songwriter and a brilliant self-promoter whose best solo songwriting ended with Ram. Although a good dad, he's just not interesting. The other band members led much more interesting and more productive lives. Harrison spoke fluent Hindi, was a humanitarian who invented the rock & roll benefit live concert with album, formed a film production company, became a master gardener and horticulturist, learned to drive Formula One cars, and formed the biggest super group of all time.
Rory Gallagher doesn‘t belong here. He is unforgotten.
I've heard that Jon Bon Jovi controlled his band also and thats why he's wealthy and the othwr band mates arent.
I wish this video had way more talk by this guy. Just much more talk. Rather than here even a millisecond of the guitar work bowling was famous for. LOL yes I wish this guy would just talk and talk for another hour
Thank you for an excellent , in-depth and thoughtful conversation on Alan Wilson and Canned Heat. You’re an excellent teacher!
Has the guitar historian ever lived in the 70's ? ...
prepackage pop content .... shame on Dave for not sharing the wealth with the rest of the members ....
Sticky Fingers is Peak Stones. Fantastic album
definitely The Allmans at Fillmore !
Other than the masterpiece that is 'All Right Now' and maybe a couple of other songs, i could never really get into his phrasing as the blues giant he allegedly is hailed as. Kind of like a Rory Gallagher whose fans have a long winded reverence for, and somehow can sway dilettantes into believing the majority of the songs are great and not just B-side sounding and plodding along with very marginal vocal charms.
The 'second album' is a good one to learn to play guitar from. And thankfully his 'singing' is very minimal. Mostly instrumental.
Totally understand what he went thru, I burnt out on Acid in 2001-2002, it was bad, took me a long time to recover, as soon as my brain popped on acid I just want to be left alone, so it's been 22+ years of pushing people away.
Imagine they picked John Paul Jones on bass 👍🏻🎸
Quit with the forgotten shit…it’s juvenile.
Legend!! ..love it
Mick Jagger and Keith Richards could have made Ian Stewart a full member of the band later, if they so wished, but they didn't. Why not? He deserved it. They mourned his passing and eulogized him, spoke of him as though he was a full member of the group, but never gave him what he deserved for staying so loyal to the group.
THANK YOU--MOST INFORMATIVE.
